Frank and his wife, Sue, began square dancing in 1976 with the Rebel Reelers Square Dance Club in Gastonia, NC. They began round dancing in 1977 with the same club. Woody Christopher was the instructor/caller and Virginia and Hubert McAbee were the instructor/cuer. They were very active members  serving  as Secretary, Vice-President, and President. In 1980 Frank and Sue began advanced classes with Ben Rubright and became members of his "Has Bens Square Dance Club"

In 1982, Frank began to learn to call for square dances and was asked to conduct his first class  at South Point United Methodist Church in Belmont, NC. This class evolved into a Mainstream/Plus club known as the  "Swingsters" of Belmont, NC. Frank had a great start on his career as a square dance caller and he has continued to improve his calling abilities and advance his career to a higher level. Frank and Sue attended  their first Callers College in July, 1983 in Jekyll Island, GA under the tutelage of  Dick Barker of Waycross, GA. They attended their second Callers College in September, 1987 at English Mountain Square Dance Retreat, Sevierville, TN with Gary Shoemake, Jack Lasry, and Daryl  McMillan. They attended their third Callers College in July, 1999 in Columbia, SC with Jim Mayo, Tony Oxendine, and Tim Marriner.

Frank began teaching his first Advanced class in 1986. This class formed "Frank's A-Sharps" in Belmont, NC. A few years later he was asked to call for the Advanced club in Mooresville, NC when Ben Rubright left the area. Eventually, the two clubs merged and moved to Mooresville, NC  and became the "A-Sharps", still dancing Advanced and C-I every week.

Frank received his Certificate of Accreditation from Callerlab in March, 1987 and attended his first Callerlab Convention in New Orleans, LA. He has also attended Callerlab Conventions in Nashville, TN, Pittsburgh, PA,  Richmond, VA., Las Vegas. NV, and Charlotte, NC in 2006. Frank serves on the Callerlab Advanced and Challenge Committees.

Frank is affiliated with and takes part in the following organizations:
    Callerlab since 1987, serves on Advanced and Challenge Committees
    Metrolina Caller Cuer Association since 1983, served as Secretary, Vice-President and President
    Metrolina Dancers Association since 1997
    North Carolina Callers Association, charter member
    North Carolina Folk, Round, and Square Dance Association since 1985, served as Chairman of the
         Callers Clinic and  on the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

Currently, Frank is the instructor/caller for the Spinning Moors and the A-Sharps in Mooresville, NC. Frank is also the guest instructor/caller for many clubs, calling and teaching Basics, Mainstream, Plus, Advanced, and Challenge I
